Valued by the Trade Guild, the DSD1 Dwarf Spider Droid found its way into the Confederacy of Independent Systems' Droid Army during the Clone Wars. This battle droid, which consists primarily of a droid brain armed with a laser cannon, was manufactured by the Baktoid Weapons Workshop.

With its four jointed legs, the DSD1 could reach a speed of 90 km/h. The brain area of the droid was covered with heavy-duty armor, but the belly area was not. Vulnerable to explosions, a well-placed thermal detonator could easily eliminate the droid. On top of that, the DSD1 was equipped with a self-destruct system.
